About Janakpur Fish House
A culinary journey celebrating the rich heritage of Mithila cuisine, founded by BBC MasterChef Santosh Shah to bring authentic Janakpur flavors to Kathmandu
From Humble Beginnings
Our story begins with a passion for preserving and sharing the authentic flavors of Mithila culture. Founded in July 2025 by BBC MasterChef Santosh Shah, Janakpur Fish House represents more than just a restaurant—it's a cultural bridge connecting the rich culinary traditions of the Terai region with modern dining experiences.
Located in the heart of Naxal, Kathmandu, our restaurant showcases the time-honored cooking techniques of Janakpur, particularly our signature fish preparations using traditional tawa (thick griddle) and pure yellow mustard oil.
